I come from a family that loves to entertain and have been fascinated with wine and food since childhood. After returning from an overseas stint in 2004, I opened Culinary Productions – a bespoke catering and events company which became a base for winemakers and the home for their wine tastings in Gauteng. Inducted into the Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne at their inaugural African Chapitre Gala and a graduate of Michael Fridjhon’s Wine Judging Academy, I am an eternal student of wine & all things culinary. A Cape Wine Master, speaker, WSET and CWA lecturer, regular contributor to wine podcasts/radio programmes and avid writer I enjoy travelling plus judging food and wine competitions worldwide. I was honoured to be a judge in the prestigious 2016 Diner’s Club Winemaker of the year competition.
Formerly the General Manager of Wine Cellar in Gauteng, food and wine editor for Sandton magazine, and a regular contributor to numerous other publications; I own two businesses – DvF Wine Distributors (Pty) Ltd. – distributor of ten top South African wines and selection of International wines as well as GrapeSlave (Pty) Ltd. – a wine events company, both based in Johannesburg.
