Sheriff, Lynne – Overseas

Lynne is an Elsenburg-trained winemaker and worked in PR for Stellenbosch Farmer’s Winery (SFW) and Nederburg winery in the 1980’s. From 1990-1991 she served as Director of the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Academy. Between 1991 and 2000 she was Commercial Director of Vinfruco Ltd and conceived the Arniston Bay lifestyle concept in 1996.

As a London based independent consultant she has been consulting on a global basis to a number of blue-chip companies on areas of production, blending and market requirements until 2020. During that time, she was a senior educator at Austrian Wine Academy in the WSET Diploma programs in Austria, Germany and Switzerland and was awarded with the title Weinakademiker h.c. in 1995.

She became a Cape Wine Master in 1988 and was the first South African to qualify as a Master of Wine in 1993. Lynne was elected Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine in 2010. Today she is retired and lives in London.
