On return from the high seas! – a personal account from Anton Swarts – CWM & Senior Winemaker at Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch.
For the past three years, I have had the privilege of being a distinguished speaker on the Seabourn Sojourn, presenting exclusive wine tastings (and lectures) as well as hosting dinners onboard this luxury 6 STAR yacht.
For this years’ 146-day World Cruise, I was again invited to host wine presentations.
My first tasting was in the Grand Salon. The atmosphere and energy of this room is indescribable! Big, bold and stately. Presenting in this powerful space, answering questions, seeing people laugh, taste wine, and guests hanging on your lips for every word spoken, brought both warmth and satisfaction to my heart.
The next day was another sea-venture day with many more lecturers onboard and therefore my second tasting was presented in the Club. A little more informal which ideally suited the tasting of our Veritas 7 Gold Medals wines.
Another highlight for me, is that precious time, once I have completed a presentation, when some guests wish to stay on to enjoy another glass of wine with me – it’s utterly humbling.” Anton Swarts
